6 Great Alternatives To A Standard Christmas Party

If the thoughts of going to a joiner party in a large function room filled with rowdy & randy office staff who just want to get drunk and stumble the night away is not quite your ideal way of bringing in the Christmas spirit. What other options do you have?

While the local restaurant is always a reliable choice for a Christmas celebration, perhaps you’re in the mood for something fresh and exciting this year.

Let’s face it, one wrong move and you could end up causing a wine spill disaster on a neighbor’s white shirt.

And don’t even get us started on the hassle of navigating bathroom and smoke breaks, or trying to catch up with old friends outside.

If you’re looking for something beyond the usual options, it’s time to consider our six fantastic alternatives to the traditional Christmas party.

1.Cookery Demonstration

Look at that handsome devil 🙂 If you and your friends are a lovers of food and want to hone in on your skills on a specific area of cuisine then a cookery demonstration can be a great alternative to a night out. A lot of venues allow you to book a full or half day or even a three hour slot. This will depend of course on the chosen food you want to learn about.

If you don’t like the idea of making your way to a chosen venue then there is also the option of hiring a chef (the guy in the picture)to come to your home to do a private cookery demonstration for you and your friends.

Start your afternoon or evening experience with a glass of bubbles and watch and learn from a trained professional. Ask as many questions as you like and take in the many tips and tricks from a true master. At the end of the demonstration, you get to enjoy a restaurant quality meal and also be confident it’s one you can re create for your friends and family. Our sessions are 3 hours long, including the eating part.

The advantages of a grazing station:
 The food doesn’t take up too much space in your fridge making it easy to cater for larger numbers
 We set up before your guests arrive meaning you can mingle along with your guests
 It’s self-sustaining, once it’s put out it pretty much looks after itself

4. Private River Cruise

Since we are on the theme of something different this is one of my favourites. We had the pleasure of working with Kate & Edward over the summer and trust me when I say, a river cruise is an awesome way to spend a day/evening.

They offer half day and full day skippered river trips on the barge, taking in places such as Marlow, Cliveden, Boulters, Bray, Henley-on-Thames and more.  Autumn and Winter are particularly beautiful on the river, this is not just a Summer thing afterall. If you’ve never experienced the river colours in the Autumn or Winter crisp sky’s and sunsets, we would highly recommend it. They have special boat heating and a wood burner too, to keep you toasty and warm on colder days.
